Kaiser Permanente Thrive HQ to Rise at 2100 Telegraph Ave
On July 9, 2019 the Oakland City Council unanimously approved Kaiser Permanente’s proposed project, a consolidated headquarters in Oakland’s Uptown neighborhood that was previously announced on June 17. The massive 28-story office building to rise at 2100 Telegraph will encompass 1.5 million square feet- making it the largest office building in Oakland.
Keyser Marston was the City’s real estate advisor for the City-owned parcel at 2100 Telegraph, which was the last parcel needed by Developer Lane Partners to assemble the project site, as a block of adjacent parcels was previously acquired.
The project, dubbed Kaiser Permanente Thrive, will also include 85,000 square feet of retail, medical office space, as well as space to hold health education classes, community meetings, and weekly farmers markets. It will have close proximity to the 19th Street BART Entrance. Kaiser will be consolidating its operations from seven other sites and selling its office buildings to Lane. As a result, this transaction will save the company about $60 million annually, per company officials.
Lane Partners and Strategic Urban Development Alliance seek to break ground on the project next year and finish it by 2023.
Oakland’s mayor Libby Schaaf released this statement on the project:
“Kaiser Permanente has been an anchor in Oakland’s community for more than 70 years. We are so pleased that this organization has reaffirmed its commitment to Oakland with this decision to establish a new headquarters, a central home for its employees and a place for our community to connect and thrive.”
